Meet our Equestrian Staff Director: Janice MacKenzie
Janice’s passion with horses started when she was in elementary school and started taking horseback riding lessons at a small barn near Philadelphia. There she learned from the bottom up and continued her hobby through the Schuylkill County 4-H programs. Her first experience with the Y was at the specialty horseback riding camp in Hamburg, PA as a camper. She received her B.S. in Biology from Millersville University. In her spare time, she competes in the National Association of Competitive Mounted Orienteering trail-rides. Janice lives near the camp with her husband Scott, two sons Alex and Dylan, their Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, Ace and cat, Ted.
Every summer we partner with Camp America to hire some of our summer staff instructors. Since 1985 Camp America has placed quality support staff in U.S. summer camps through their Campower program. They offer experienced staff from countries such as Poland, Ukraine, Russia, France and the United Kingdom. They are a designated summer work travel sponsor through the U.S. Department of State, and as such are subject to rigorous regulatory provisions.
All of our equestrian staff are Certified Horsemanship Association Instructors.
