Compass Basics (1 - 1.5 hours)

Do you ever worry that you might not find your way in the woods?  In this program participants learn the basic parts of a compass and how to use it. Their new knowledge will be put to the test through various games that have them navigate their way through a course. [Math 2.3, 2.9]

Orienteering (1 - 1.5 hours)
By using a topographical map and compass, participants must use their learned skills to locate various ‘controls’ throughout the deep woods.  The students are divided into small teams and are challenged to follow the course through the use of a compass and map. [Math 2.3, 2.9]

Outdoor Living Skills (1 - 1.5 hours)
How can you be sure you have the right tent, backpack, stove, cooking kit, food, or sleeping bag?  Know and prepare for your outdoor experience before going into the wilds.  This will be your chance to learn the basics for preparedness in the outdoors.  Learn things like; how to a build a fire and make a shelter.
