Outdoor Education

South Mountain YMCA is the perfect setting for a fun outdoor and environmental education experience.

Escape the confines of the classroom, schoolyard and busy schedules to experiences hands-on learning combined with outdoor recreation, team building and adventure.
South Mountain YMCA works
with teachers to develop a
program that meets the individual school’s  specific goals.

Personal attention is given to
the planning so that teachers
can prepare their students for the optimum learning experience.

Our educational classes have been correlated to Pennsylvania State Academic Standards. Our Outdoor Education staff members are degreed professionals who complete a comprehensive training program and have experience working with children in group settings.

Our Goals:
  • Enhance classroom concepts.
  • Provide an experiential learning adventure in an outdoor setting.
  • Create opportunities for personal growth and confidence building.
  • Develop respect for self, others and the environment.
  • Nurture an appreciation of the natural world.

Day & Overnight Programs
We offer All-Inclusive Program Packages for multi-day learning adventures.
Imagine seeing the excitement and anticipation in the eyes of your students as they arrive at another world. They look around and see a forested mountain view that stretches for miles. They have just begun a journey of fun, friendships, and discovery. Trained naturalists with a life-long love for learning guide groups through our interactive, standards-based curriculum. Classes range from scientific to recreational to cultural and historical. A hands-on, experiential, nature-based, community experience at the Camp Conrad Weiser Outdoor Center is a unique event students remember long after they return to the classroom!
